We started to leave Albequerque yesterday and it was so hot we decided to stop and get a room. It was the first day since we left that I did not have to buy gas. We took back roads as much as we could to see as much of Northern New Mexico as we could. We sure are glad we did. We met Alec. He was loads of fun and very helpful looking at stones. We made it to La Junta and along the way saw some pretty spectacular scenery. We saw a herd of Elk, a huge hawk standing right beside the road but Audie couldn't get that that picture. I was running around 85mph. The road is straight as far as you can see and you do not have to go slow to see the mountains. So far we have only gone 5987 miles. Enjoy.
